Exhibition: Women's Voices Then and Now. The Lansing and Detroit Leagues are invited to an exhibition commemorating and celebrating the suffrage centennial passage of the 19th Amendment: Women's Voices Then and Now.

The docent-led tour begins at 12 noon.

Free parking is available in the small lot behind Central Methodist Church (23 E Adams). The Gallery and Church are connected, both of which are just north of Grand Circus Park. Metered street parking is also available.

30-30 Town Hall: Ranked Choice. RANK MI VOTE has organized 30 Town Halls in 30 Days to explain Ranked Choice Voting.

Ranked Choice Voting is a method used in some State elections. While the League currently has no position on this issue, we encourage members to attend the event to learn more. See the flyer below for more information.

CitizenDetroit Dinner & Dialogue--March Primary Election. Join CitizenDetroit for another excellent Dinner & Dialogue where we will discuss the fast approaching March Presidential Primary Election as well as the pros and cons of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) millage proposal, which will be on the March ballot.

Your Local Polling Place VOTE!. The Presidential Primary is scheduled to nominate a Democratic and Republican Candidate for President of the United States.

For this election, you can vote only one ballot type. Therefore, in order to vote, you must request either a Republican Party Presidential Primary Ballot, a Democratic Party Presidential Primary Ballot, or the "No Party Declaration" Special Election Ballot.

  • You no longer need a reason to vote absentee.
  • Detroit City Clerk's Office has increased its number of absentee vote centers. You may vote your absentee voter ballot at whichever vote center you find most convenient. Go to the City of Detroit Elections Office website ( for a list of absentee vote centers.
  • There is no longer a voter registration deadline! You can register to vote and then vote the very same day.

LWV DETROIT FUNDRAISER. Join the League for its 2nd annual theatre fundraising event for a matinee performance of The Puppeteer by Desiree York.

From the Harlem Renaissance to present day, women in one family cut racism's strings and sing their own song.

Free Attended Parking in the lot next to the theatre.

Champagne + Appetizer Reception begins at 1:00pm in the Lobby. Curtain Time is 2:00pm.

Shake-Up 2020. The League is partnering with the Coalition of Community Social Workers and Vanguard Services to offer a day of civic engagement for social work students.

Information regarding voter rights, absentee ballots, ID for voting, and voting on Election Day will be available.

The League will also provide a voter registration table.

  CENSUS DAY 2020. Census Day is observed nationwide. By this date, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. When you respond to the census invitation, you will tell the Census Bureau where you live as of April 1, 2020.
