The time has finally arrived! Starting no later than this Saturday, February 17, every registered Michigander will have the right to vote early at an early voting site for the first time in Michigan’s history. Getting the word out about early voting is a bit tricky since the days, hours, and locations of early voting vary by community. But here’s what is standardized statewide:
- Early voting will take place at early voting sites. A voter’s early voting site will likely differ from their Election Day polling place. To find their early voting site(s), voters should visit mi.gov/vote and click on “Where do I go to early vote” or “Your voter information.”
- Early voting sites must be open from Saturday, February 17 through Sunday, February 25 for at least eight hours daily. Some communities may offer additional early voting days and hours. To find out when early voting will be offered in your community, visit mi.gov/vote and click “Where do I go to early vote” or “Your voter information.”
- Voting at an early voting site is similar to voting at a polling place on Election Day. Voters will check-in, receive their ballot, fill it out, and place it into a tabulator.
If you or someone you know casts a ballot at an early voting site, please fill out (or encourage them to fill out) the Promote the Vote (PTV) early voting experience survey. Responses to the survey will inform PTV of any weaknesses that need to be addressed before future elections and provide PTV with positive stories to uplift our communities.
