A Message from Paula Bowman, Copresident, LWVMI:
Hello Wayne County League Members!
LWVMI is looking for volunteers to help observe the canvassing of the post-election process following the August 2 Primary. No experience is needed, but there is required one-hour training by an election attorney so that you know what to expect. Here’s a quick bullet list of what’s involved:
- Canvassing will begin on August 3 at 12noon and will probably take four workdays to complete.
- Location: Vigliotti Building (1900 E. Jefferson, Detroit). Free parking and very safe.
- You can observe in two, three, or four-hour shifts (on your own or with a buddy).
- Non-LWV members are welcome to participate but must follow LWV training guidelines.
- After each shift, the observer is responsible for a short report transmitted via mobile phone (or home computer).
If you can help out, please:
- Consider the date and time you want to observe, August 4 through August 9 (12noon 5:00 pm).
- Send Paula an email with the date(s) you want to observe and specify your shift times. Please include your cell phone number and indicate your local League or non-LWV member status.
- Hold Monday, August 1 (7:00 to 8:00 pm) for Zoom training. The training hosts will send a Zoom Link during the week of July 25. Should you not be available on August 1, a recording of this training will be available for viewing.
I hope to hear from some of you! Please let me know if you have any questions.
