How to Make Comments on the Redistricting Maps

Mary Pollack, AAUW of Michigan Government Relations Coordinator, will present a much-needed webinar on how to make comments on the proposed redistricting maps (Monday, December 13, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.).

The Michigan Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Commission (MICRC) has issued 15 final proposed maps for a 45-day public review before its meeting on December 28 to adopt the final maps for the U.S. Congress, MI State Senate, and MI State House. These district lines will be used for the next ten years until the next Census and redistricting process.

It is urgent for the public to give the MICRC feedback on whether you like the proposed map for your neighborhood and district. Ms. Pollock will provide a little background on the Commission mapping process and then use the resources and proposed maps on the MICRC website to demonstrate how to access the maps and give the map a YES or NO with optional comments.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) and LWV of Dearborn-Dearborn Heights are sponsoring this event. Ms. Pollock has virtually attended almost all of the MICRC meetings since its inception in September 2020. She has also followed major news sources and attended numerous webinars to track the Commission’s work and those trying to influence it.
