Board Meetings:

The Detroit League Board of Directors meets monthly on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 pm via Zoom. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, here is the 2024-2025 LWV Detroit board meeting schedule.

Board Position Descriptions:

  • Communications Coordinator ⏤ Oversees the content and distribution of the messages and information shared with the public through the website, social media, newsletter, local press, and other communication outlets.
  • Board Member at Large Participates in all board meetings, offering input on critical decisions and contributing expertise or guidance on matters relevant to the Detroit League. By board vote, board members at Large can be assigned tasks that align with their skill sets.
  • Facilitator ⏤  Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the meetings of the LWVDetroit Board and membership.
  • League Liaison ⏤ Establishes and maintains mutual understanding between LWV Detroit and LWVMI and LWVUS.
  • Membership Chair ⏤ Promotes the League, encouraging the Board and members to build it and develops plans to recruit new members; maintains the LWV Detroit Membership Roster.
  • Secretary ⏤ Records and maintains the minutes of League meetings.
  • Treasurer ⏤ Develops the budget in coordination with the Board; maintains League funds; processes dues payments.
  • Voter Service Chair ⏤ Develops strategy for voter registration; coordinates voter education events, including candidate forums; distributes voter education materials.
