If you have or witness any issues that arise before, on, or after Election Day, or if you have any voting-related questions and need expert advice, please call the Election Protection Hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683). You can also get help at https://866ourvote.org.
The national, nonpartisan Election Protection coalition works year-round to ensure all voters have an equal opportunity to vote and have their vote count. Made up of more than 100 local, state, and national partners, Election Protection uses a wide range of tools and activities to protect, advance, and defend the right to vote.
Report any problems at the polls to the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline. The hotline provides one-on-one assistance to voters with questions or concerns that may arise. The national hotline also identifies the most common issues voters encounter and gives the state a chance to come up with solutions:
- Language assistance
- Absentee voting ⏤ how to apply, how to fill out, and how to track an absentee ballot
- How to get a new ballot after making a mistake (spoiled ballots)
Election Protection provides Americans from coast to coast with comprehensive information and assistance at all voting stages ⏤ from registration to absentee and early voting, to casting a vote at the polls, to overcoming election participation obstacles. Election Protection helps voters ensure their vote is counted through several resources, including:
- A suite of voter helplines administered by coalition members:
- English: 866-OUR-VOTE – Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
- Spanish/English: 888-VE-Y-VOTA – NALEO Educational Fund
- Arabic/English: 844-YALLA-US – Arab American Institute (AAI)
- Asian Languages/English: 888-API-VOTE – APIAVote & Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC)
- Voter protection field programs: legal-managed by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and grassroots-managed by Common Cause
- Digital outreach tools: including 866ourvote.org, @866ourVote, and facebook.com/866OurVote
Throughout the election cycle, our volunteers provide voter information, document problems they encounter when voting, and work with partners to identify and remove barriers to voting. Election Protection focuses on the voter⏤not on the political horse race⏤and provides guidance, information, and help to any American, regardless of their voting choices.
