Michigan has 114 jurisdictions (in 49 counties) with races and proposals on the ballot on Election Day, Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Not sure if there’s an election in your community on August 8? Click HERE for a full list of communities with August elections.
Here are a few important reminders:
- Polls are open from 7am to 8pm. If you are in line by 8pm, you must be allowed to vote.
- If you still need to register to vote in this election or update your registration, you can do so at your city or township clerk’s office (with proof of residency) until 8 pm. Once registered, you can vote by absentee ballot in your clerk’s office or go to your assigned polling location.
- In most cases, your city or township clerk must receive your absentee ballot by 8pm today to be counted. If you have not yet returned your absentee ballot, you should drop it off ASAP at your city or township clerk’s office, satellite office, or in a secure drop box provided by your clerk.
- NEW DEADLINE FOR MILITARY AND OVERSEAS VOTERS: If you are a member of the military or living overseas, your absentee ballot must be postmarked by Election Day and received by your city or township clerk within six days after to be counted.
- Last-minute questions or issues? Call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) or one of the hotlines available in a language other than English.
