LWV opened Women’s History Month by hosting a panel with women leaders in advocacy. The group, which featured speakers from Black Voters Matter, LULAC, and SuperMajority, covered racial and gender dynamics in politics, disinformation, and how we can activate voters around the midterms. Check out the recording of the event.
We then turned inward, asking staff about their experiences as women in advocacy.
You too can make women’s history by supporting the Equal Rights Amendment on its journey to ratification. Let your representatives know that gender equality must be enshrined in our Constitution!
Fighting for Safe and Accessible Voting Processes
Our pro-voter legal work continued as we worked to stop voter intimidation, safeguard early voting, and more. We are watching to see the status of cases relating to voter access and participation, and are prepared to respond in the event that anti-voter efforts increase.

Voting Rights Anniversaries Remind Us Why We Advocate
The League supported Black Voters Matter and other civil rights organizations in commemorating the 57th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Reflecting on the people who risked their lives to advance racial justice at the polls, we’re reminded how important it is to never give up on building a more equal democracy.
March also saw the three-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision that partisan gerrymandering cannot be limited. Litigator Allison Rucho recounts her experience representing the LWV of North Carolina in Rucho v. Common Cause and how we can continue to stand up for fair maps.
