Today is Election Day – the last day that voters can make their voices heard in this election. The following are a few important reminders for those counties with an election (see the BOE Elections on May 2, 2023 by County):
- Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm. If you are in line by 8 pm, you must be allowed to vote.
- If you still need to register to vote in this election or update your registration, you can do so at your city or township clerk’s office (with proof of residency) until 8 pm. Once registered, you can vote absentee in your clerk’s office or go to your assigned polling location.
- Usually, your city or township clerk must receive your absentee ballot by 8 pm today to be counted. If you have not yet returned your absentee ballot, you should drop it off ASAP at your city or township clerk’s office, satellite office, or in a secure drop box provided by your clerk.
- NEW DEADLINE FOR MILITARY AND OVERSEAS VOTERS: If you are a member of the military or living overseas, your absentee ballot must be postmarked by Election Day and received by your city or township clerk within six days after to be counted.
- Last-minute questions or issues? Call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) or one of the hotlines available in a language other than English.
